Cristina Sitja Rubio was a photographer for 10 years before finally trading in her camera for a pencil. She was born in Caracas, Venezuela, studied Fine Art in Montreal and is now in Berlin.

I love her pencil lines and the ideas behind her illustrations. They’re always tinged with subtle color that really makes her work pop.
You can buy her buttons and shirts here, and read her blog filled with her drawings here.

Tara Fortin’s Etsy store features a lot of cats. And I mean A LOT. And she does vampires too, and other funky goth illustrations. I bet it’s because her partner in crime, Rocko the Cat puts her up to it. (Did anyone ever watch Rocko’s Modern Life, a cartoon on Cartoon Network where there’s this Aussie bunny who has a cow for a friend? I’m digressing, but I love the name Rocko.)
Anyway, I thought that button badges of The Brothers Cat — four cats heads on individual backing cards — to be a lovely addition to a button collection.

The scratchy cat print; Alonzo – doggy dream print
Julia Freund is a German-born freelance illustrator now residing in France, and she has a portfolio site called Lineanongrata where she showcases her drawings, sketches and a few pages from a children’s book project called Mister Fromfaraway.

A sketch from her portfolio site; An illustration from Mister Fromfaraway
She sells her prints, buttons and printed t-shirts in her shop, where my favourite character is her scratching cat (who also greets me on her portfolio site!)

Colourful Sheep print

Sheep badges
She has a lovely selection of prints and buttons in her shop, and my favourite one from her collection is her Fairylands print. She also just started a blog where I thought her illustration for the article here to be very well executed.
