Lapin à Carcassonne

“lapin à carcassonne” from lapin on Vimeo.
Lapin is a French illustrator, an artist, an urban sketcher who lives between Barcelona and Paris, and he has a new book out called Lapin à Carcassonne – filled with sketches of Carcassonne and its neighbourhood (23 villages and cities) after he was invited to spend 2 weeks there.
It’s like he’s taking snapshot of Carcassonne life with a pen instead of a camera! You can see more on his portfolio and purchase the book here.

Michelle Morin / United thread
Posted by Amy on Wednesday January 25, 2012

I’m poring over the amazing details of Michelle Morin of United Thread’s watercolor artworks. She currently resides in Massachusetts with her fiancé and the subject of her artworks are primarily based on flora and fauna; the love of the former she picked up in Portland, Oregon where she worked at a plant farm and greenhouse.
I love watching the gradual transformation of her style and work from 2009 – it’s amazing. You can also read her blog here.

The end the week, I’m enjoying these lovely watercolor lovelies by artist Cate Parr, who grew up in England but is now based in Los Angeles.

Remember my post on Racheal’s passing? I just heard the most uplifting news from Laura (Racheal’s mom) that their family has started the Racheal Anilyse Art Initiative through the Rose Foundation of Haiti, and that the University of Hartford School of Art has established a scholarship in Racheal’s name.
Also, the University has an online guestbook where you can share your memories and express your condolences.
Have a great weekend folks – I’ll see you back here on Monday.

Yelena Bryksenkova
Posted by Amy on Friday September 23, 2011

I’m leaving you all with beautiful images from Yelena Bryksenkova’s portfolio before I head off for a spot of trekking tomorrow and some quiet contemplation! Born in Russia but raised in Northeast Ohio, Yelena’s watercolor work is breath-taking in that she handles the medium so very well. Her tiny detailed brush-strokes and patterns add such a wonderful, textural quality to her work.
She also has a shop, so if you’re a fan of hers like I am, you know where to go!
