How adorable are these animals? Love the work of Brendan Wenzel — his sketches are amazing, and his lines are fabulously fluid.

Joana Rosa Bragança

Joana Rosa Bragança is an illustrator based in Portugal and can I just say how lovely her work is? Everything is so pretty and beautifully detailed – she has mad watercolor skills! I’m so in love with how she draws people too: soft, rounded and fluid. Check out the lack of elbows. SWOON.
Check out her flickr and here’s her blog about her little pet!

Christine Pym

Beautiful watercolour illustrations from Christine Pym who studied Illustration for Children’s Publishing at the North East Wales Institute in the UK. She’s illustrated one book entitled The Tail of the Whale which will be out soon! I love how she talks about achieving a balance between your own vision and what the market wants in this blog post of hers on her experience after she graduated from university.

Recipelook

Emilie Boudet sent in a link to Recipe Look, and the idea behind the site is to provide an alternative way to writing out recipes: by drawing them instead! Anyone can enter the fun project, and to find out in detail about how to go about doing so, see their illustrated guide right here.

Simon Wild

I am beguiled by the gorgeous swirls and heady colors on Simon Wild’s work. Everything’s fun and organic! I’m loving how his style is strongly reflected through a variety of media — he has previously worked as an animator, filmmaker, video editor and street performer before pursuing a career in illustration.
Watch his silent video above, inspired by a working trip to Iceland to explore the glacial lagoon of Jokulsarlon, at the foot of the Vatnajokull glacier, and you’ll know what I mean.

Vanilla Bug

How adorable are these finger puppets? They’re three French hens screenprinted onto calico fabric (with wonderful little touches like rosy cheeks and a necklace touched up by hand!) The trio fits handsomely into their own pouch, and were all handmade made by Amy Borrell, a freelance designer + illustrator based in Australia –- check out more handmade items in her Vanillabug Etsy shop.

Jordan Grace Owens
Posted by Amy on Monday February 1, 2010

Jordan Grace Owens is an artist and designer who likes to work with her hands — cutting, sewing, painting, and the general making of things. Her Etsy shop – “Hollandsworth”:http://www.etsy.com/shop/hollandsworth is named after the family name of her great-grandmother; a crafter who made lovely quilts and gave them as birthday gifts to Jordan. I love the items she has in her shop, especially the bearded men pins!
Keep up with her on flickr and her blog (where you can also see a recent press clipping about her — she has fabulous hair!)

Emilio Santoyo seems to be having lots of fun, and this shows through in his work. He dabbles in lots of things – editorial, comics, and even sewing. Take a look at his screen-printed pocket pouches. YOWZA! His website is a treat, so make sure you head over and take in all the happy vibe.

Happy Doodle Land
Posted by Amy on Tuesday January 5, 2010

The ever lovely Flora from Happy Doodle Land has finally opened up shop! The Taiwan-born designer has a MFA from Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and currently designs products for kids during the day (and draws aplenty the rest of the time!) Her artworks are simply a joy to have around the house, and has a nice retro feel to them. Here’s something interesting that I’ve noticed as well: her work has plenty of curves… a feature that I am particularly drawn to.
For now, she’s having a promotion in her new shop – buy one of her prints and the second one is USD$5 off!
{Congrats Flora!}
