Percy Loves Ice Cream

Mr. Sausage Meets a Hungry Dog
There’s something very raw about Stacey Louise Joy’s illustrations — which she does with pencils and colored pencil in between. I find them endearing because of the plot of her stories — which she also illustrates. It mostly involves a penguin, a cat, a dog, and a sausage (although not necessarily in that order).

The ceiling boy’s love; The bad habit of a guy who lives in Post — both limited edition prints
Naoshi is an artist from Japan, who uses colored sand to “paint” her pictures. She sells prints and postcards of her work in her shop, and has done a lot of exhibitions around the world.

The method, called Sunae, is a fine art of sand painting, which, according to the little tutorial on her portfolio is basically drawing a picture, cutting some bits out and carefully blowing sand on it (she makes it sound so easy!)
And if you’d like to know more, you can read a little interview with the artist here.

White square figure nº 1, a collage original still available in her shop
I am in love with Rachel Caiano’s work. She’s an artist based in Portugal, who illustrates regularly for Gingko magazine and Domingo magazine; her simple lines made even more beautiful with strategic, yet minimal placement of bits of fabric and paper.

White square figure nº 51, Collage and drawing on paper, Private collection
She has a shop too, where she sells her original collage + illustration creations. My favorite has go to be this one.

Sleeping Cat: A matchbox original
This is rather clueless of me, but Jenny (of Flickr’s greenfemale fame) recently started a shop called Be Happy Now on Etsy selling her art. I’ve been a fan for some time now, but most of her illustrations were only available for viewing, so I’m happy that she now has a shop of her own.

Tiny Books

3 characters drawn on toilet paper rolls!
She’s one of my favorite artists on flickr who draws her whimsical illustrations on almost everything! She is also currently studying, and posts up illustrations based on the topic of old classics – her transformation of text and narration into illustration is very inspiring, mainly because I love storybook illustrations.

A page from her Moleskine sketchbook for the Moleskine Exchange Project
She hails from Israel, and there’s wonderful clips of her Moleskine sketches on YouTube as well. My favorite one so far is her tiny books filled with her illustrations, encased in a felt casing of their own.

I am in love with Puloverchito’s flickr stream. His sketch travel series makes me smile — and smiling alone in front of my laptop makes me weird, but what the hey.
EDIT:
You can see Hernan’s last exhibition titled Unos Dos documented in Flickr right here.

Tiny Tiger Kitten print
Mati Rose is a fantastic artist – one who tells you that it took her 32 years, 2 schools and 486 paintings to get to where she is right now. I take this especially to heart, so I’m trying to slow things down in my life and to experiment a little more, and to take myself out of a box that I’ve done a fair job sticking myself into for the past few years! I’m always telling myself that it always takes practice, patience and a healthy dose of faith.
Her style is quirky and eclectic, and features quite a bit of animals in there – the ones I spot the most are tigers, kitties (or both!), birds and elephants. Her imagination must be a fantastic place to be!

I will put you back together again print

Kitten with Scissors
Read her blog to read about what she’s up to, or hop on to her shop for more lovelies.

Fairylands print
Mary Kilvert is based in the UK, and does illustrations for the editorial, advertising and publishing industry. Her works are produced by using fine line pens, watercolour, collage and digital colour.

Colourful Sheep print

Sheep badges
She has a lovely selection of prints and buttons in her shop, and my favourite one from her collection is her Fairylands print. She also just started a blog where I thought her illustration for the article here to be very well executed.
