The galleria & Project PikaPackage™

So I’ve been thinking about the galleria and the blog, and how can I make it into something that everyone can be involved in.

And I’ve made a decision to do away with paid advertisements by artists/illustrators (unless they personally request for it!). The idea seemed plausible to me at first, but the more I think about it, it doesn’t encapsulate the spirit that I ultimately want pikaland to have.

So don’t fret — for now the galleria will display loads of cool people whose works rock. Thank you to everyone who emailed and submitted their banner for display — you can keep them coming in and I’ll just upload them right here where it will remain until the end of March; and come April, let’s start off with a project, shall we? It’s one I have been thinking of for the longest time, but didn’t have the guts to try.

Click here to learn more about Project PikaPackage, and how to get involved.

Once I’ve ironed everything out, I’ll get busy with my emails again. And did I say thank you for coming along for the ride? 😉

The Gocco PikaPackage giveaway!

We’re really excited to announce the launch of the latest PikaPackage Project — the Gocco Edition, that features a curated list of 17 artists and illustrators who dabble in the medium!

I fell in love with the Gocco machine ever since I saw the works that came out of one. Simple, colorful and compact, the toy-like table-top screenprinting contraption was easy to operate and so much fun! As the number of artists who used Gocco for their art increased (as well as those who loved the medium), I thought that it would be a huge fun to organize a package around the theme! The Gocco PikaPackage is a beautiful collection of works by these artists:

1. Benconservato
2. Cindy Tomcyzk
3. Dee Beale
4. Denise Holmes
5. Emily Glaubinger
6. Fric De Mentol
7. haunted house of projects
8. Jesses Mess
9. Kate Pugsley
10. Keeki
11. Kids Haus
12. Laura Berger
13. Mateo & Isabel
14. Moira Millman
15. Piktorama
16. Susan Estelle Kwas
17. Susan Schwake

In this issue of the Gocco PikaPackage zine (available as a FREE download!), you can get to know the artists via a short Q & A, and there’s also a treat in store for Gocco lovers — our artists share some of their Gocco tips with you!

The Go Travel! PikaPackage giveaway!

For this August, I thought that it would be fitting to have a package that is dedicated to traveling. Summertime has always been about going to different places to discover something new, and this year it’s been a little quieter than usual on the internet because of it.

Once the vacation is over (or for those who are stuck at home like me,) I think it would be fantastic to be able to collect a package that can remind you about how fantastic it is to go see the world — and this is the premise of the Go Travel! PikaPackage. I hope that this would also inspire you to go out and explore – no matter the season!

For this theme we have curated a total of 14 illustrators who submitted their work in the form of prints, zines, notebooks, stickers, buttons and paper toys (more would have participated, if it weren’t for the traveling season — a catch-22 indeed!):

1. Annie Galvin of 3 Fish Studios
2. Aileen Holmes
3. Alison Tang of Little Clouds
4. Angela Keoghan
5. Chum Mcleod
6. Donna McKenzie of Corella Design
7. Émilie Boudet
8. Emma Cowley
9. Gaia Cornwall
10. Ilaria Benedetti
11. Kitty Kilian
12. Laura Tarrish
13. Rachael Smith of Penelope and Pip
14. Suzanne L. Vinson

Best of all, you can read all about our participants in this little nifty Go Travel! PikaPackage zine – there’s a short little Q+A in there with each artist and you may just find a new favorite to love!
